Model Railway groups.

 Alnwick Model Railway Society 

The Alnwick and District Model Railway Society has acquired suitable premises and is currently building a large OO gauge model railway.


 

Newcastle Model Railway Society
The Newcastle and District Model Railway Society was founded in 1970 and staged its first exhibition in the Old Town Hall, now demolished, like a lot of fine buildings in Newcastle. The Society stages a Tyneside Model Railway Exhibition at Gateshead Stadium, in Gateshead in November of each year.


Ormesby Hall Model Railway Society 
This is a group of volunteers who operate and maintain several model railway layouts, based at the National Trust property, Ormesby Hall, near Middlesbrough.

Huddersfield Railway Modellers

 

Huddersfield railway modellers was founded in 1967 at has club rooms in Milnsbridge, near Huddersfield. It stages a model railway exhibition in the town of Holmfirth during late October


Barnsley Model Railway club

 

This club has been in existance since 1956 and it stages a model railway exhibition in Barnsley in November of each year.


Leeds ModelRailway Society

 

The Leeds Model Railway Society was formed on 1st September 1947, it stages a model railway exhibition in the city of Leeds in October of each year.


Penine Model Railway Club

 

The Pennine Model Railway Society has its club rooms in Huddersfield, it stages several model railway exhibitions either at Saddleworth Textile Museum at Uppermill in June and November, also in Huddersfield in January each year.


Wakefield Model Railway Society

 

The Wakefield Railway Modellers' Society was founded in March 1958 to cater for those modellers interested in small scale model railways in the Wakefield area. The Society has since prospered and now owns its own spacious premises near the city centre and organises a yearly exhibition, in November of each year.

Situated in Carlisle Railway Station this is the ideal location to both model trains and watch the real thing as well. The society is constructing two model railway layouts - one is a British location and the other is based on a German location.


 

This is an informal local group, founded in November 2000, modelling in 7mm to the foot. Although associated with the Gauge 0 Guild membership of the guild is not essential to join the group. The group has a test track and meet monthly for a social evening in the Cumberland Wrestlers Inn.


 

This club holds meetings in Barrow in Furness and stages a model railway exhibition in that town during the Easter weekend.


 

The Kendal Model Railway Club is a small club which was formed in 1963. It has layouts in 'OO' and 'O' gauges and has won a number of awards over the past years. It stages a model railway exhibition in March of each year and holds meetings in Burnside, Kendal.


 

The club has a small friendly membership, meets in the town of Millom and caters for railway modellers in N, OO & O Gauges.


 

The Heywood Model Railway Group was formed in 1969 by two or three enthusiasts who wanted to share their knowledge about model railways and they originally met at one of the founder members houses in Heywood. Hence the name, even though the group now have their permanent premises in Rochdale. The Group has over 30 permanent members and normally holds its own exhibition in March each year.



 

 

 

 

 

Bradford Model Railway Club

The club was formed in 1979 from a section of the Bradford Model Engineers Society by a small group who were mainly interested in small scale railway modelling. The club stages a model railway exhibition in the city of Bradford in April of each year.


 

 

Bridlington Model Railway SocietyBridlington Model Railway Society was founded in 1982. The society stages a model railway exhibition in the town of Bridlington during August each year.


Darlington Model Railway Club

 

The origin of the present club dates back to 1971 and began with the Americana Model Railway Club, Darlington, although this had no connection with American railroading. The reason for title being that the original home of the club was at The “Americana” Fish Bar and Restaurant, at Bondgate, in Darlington, with the clubs location being upstairs in the defunct Restaurant. The club stages a model railway exhibition in the town of Darlington in early December of each year.


North East Fine Scale Group

 

The North East Finescale Group is a railway modelling group based in North East England. The Group caters for members of the EM Gauge Society, Scalefour Society, 2mm Association, Gauge O Guild, Scale 7 Society and NMRA (Proto 87). Membership is based around the common aim of applying finescale standards to railway modelling. 


Shipley Model Railway Society

 

The Club was founded in 1978 and has members drawn from towns across Yorkshire including Keighley, Otley, Ilkley, Harrogate, Guiseley, Horsforth, Brighouse and Bradford. It stages a model railway exhibition in Shipley in September of each year.

Shildon Model Railway Club

 

We are a small club established 29 years ago in 1982. We have 20 members including junior members to whom we teach the arts of our hobby. These skills include model and layout building, electronics, joinery, metal work, photography and the history of local and national railways etc.

We display model layouts at exhibitions around the north of England, also venturing into Scotland. We have 13 exhibition layouts available in N, OO, and HO gauges.


 

This group was formed as a Model Rail Group which aims to promote the use of DCC and helping others get to grips with new equipment, it holds meetings in Rawtenstall and stages a model railway exhibition in October.


 

This club meets in Fleetwood and stages a model railway exhibition in that town in September of each year.
